Permanent makeup is designed to fade over time, but is still considered a permanent cosmetic tattoo. Factors such as skin type, lifestyle, age, metabolism, medications, and pigment color affect the longevity of your tattoo. Tanning beds and UV rays can also affect the rate at which pigments are broken down.
Depending on the varying factors discussed above, results last anywhere from 1 - 2 years before a client will need to come back for a touch up.
*Final results will vary based on the conditions stated above, and CANNOT be guaranteed. A follow up appointment is needed at 8-12 weeks where we can asses pigment retention and perfect your permanent makeup.
WHAT FACTORS CAN AFFECT MY RESULTS?
-
Sun Exposure: Increased sun exposure will cause premature fading. I recommend using a very good face sunscreen to all my clients.
-
Excessive Bleeding: Excessive bleeding will greatly affect how much pigment your body will retain. Pinpoint bleeding throughout the procedure is normal, but excessive bleeding causes pigment to fade very quickly and heal ashy. While bleeding is not entirely in our control, it is important that you follow before care instructions to help minimize bleeding. This includes avoiding blood thinning medications and alcohol 24 hours before your procedure.
-
Improper Pre and Post Care: Failure to follow the given pre and post care instructions will greatly diminish your healed results. Please follow all instructions exactly for the best healed results! I can only control what happens inside the shop, so please come prepared and do your part when you leave afterwards for the best healed results!
DO YOU ONLY USE BLACK PIGMENT?
No! Many of my clients come in desiring a color that is less harsh and more natural. I actually recommend this for my naturally blonde girls! I use black/brown or even soft browns that I know heal beautiful and natural.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT IMMEDIATELY AFTER MY APPOINTMENT?
-
Immediately after getting your eyeliner done, you may experience minor redness or swelling around the treated area, which typically goes away within 24 hours. Over the next few hours, the pigment in the skin will oxidize, making the liner look darker than it was initially. This is normal and expected. Pigment typically fades anywhere from 20-40% once fully healed.
-
Around day 3-4, you may notice light scabbing and flaking on the treated area. This is normal! Please refrain from picking at the liner. Doing so will result in loss of pigment in those areas and can cause scarring. Eyeliner may appear spotty or patchy until the entire area has finished healing. Once all the flaking is complete (usually around day 7), the liner will appear much lighter. This is normal! The pigment will darken over the next 4-6 weeks and the pigment will return to the skin in it's healed color.
-
At 4-6 weeks, your eyeliner will be fully healed. Whatever pigment that does not return will be addressed at your touch up appointment. At this appointment, we will asses your retention, touch up the spots that didn’t stick, and can adjust the pigment color to give you perfect eyeliner! Once the liner has healed from your touch up appointment, you will have beautiful, full liner for 12-36 months!
DO I NEED A TOUCH UP APPOINTMENT?
Yes! PMU is a two-step process, and a touch up is needed to get the best results. Also known as the “perfecting session”, a touch up is done 8-12 weeks after your initial session, and is where we assess your retention, perfect the shape and color, and add more dimension. Touch ups are very important and add to the overall results and longevity of your PMU. It is strongly encouraged to book your touch up appointment at the same time as you book your initial session, or at checkout after your initial session.
DOES IT HURT?
Most of my clients report little to no pain throughout their procedure. Some even fall asleep! ;) While pain tolerance varies between clients, a topical Lidocaine numbing agent is applied throughout the procedure to make sure you stay comfortable.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
Initial sessions take 1 - 2 hours.
Touch up appointments take 1-2 hours.
WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?
48 hours notice is required to make any changes to your appointment.
We understand that life can be unpredictable, and we strive to accommodate all clients. However, in order to maintain our schedule and provide the best service to everyone, please note the following:
-
Cancellations: We require a minimum of 48 hours' notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Late cancellations will incur a 50% charge of the scheduled service.
-
No-shows: Failure to show up for your appointment without prior notice will result in a 50% charge of the scheduled service.
-
Refunds: Due to the nature of permanent makeup services, we do not offer refunds once the service has been completed. If there are concerns with your results, we offer a complimentary touch-up session, on a case to case basis, within a specified period, typically 8-10 weeks after the procedure.
I do have a 15 minute grace period past your appointment time. Anything after that will result in a reschedule.
