FAQs: FAQs

WHAT ARE NANO BROWS?

Unlike microblading, which uses a blade, Nano Brows are done with a machine and single needle to create super fine, realistic hair strokes. This technique is gentler on the skin making it ideal for all skin types-including oily, sensitive, or mature skin!

Nano brows are highly customizable, as the shape, color, and density are tailored to each client’s facial features. We can apply minimal strokes for subtle enhancement or add more to fill in sparse areas, creating a fuller yet natural appearance. Combining both Nano Brows and Powder Brows are also an option!

Initial results of Nano Brows may look intense at first but heal into soft powdery strokes. If you've overplucked in the past or have thinning brows and want the most natural-looking results, Nano Brows are the perfect solution.

WHAT IS A POWDER BROW?

Unlike microblading, a powder brow has no hair strokes and is made up of entirely machine shading. This technique is ideal for all skin types!

When doing a powder brow, a tattoo machine implants small dots of pigment with a needle. These tiny dots are layered on top of each other until the desired amount of saturation is achieved.

We can do a very soft amount of shading with no harsh edges for an ultra-natural result, or layer more shading  to create a defined, filled-in look.

Powder brows are completely customizable to fit each client’s preferences!

Initial results of a powder brow will look intense at first but heal to a soft, powdery finish. If you fill in your brows everyday, want the least amount of maintenance, or just want even results

that last, powder brows are for you!

AM I A CANDIDATE?

Unfortunately not everyone is a candidate for permanent makeup. Beautiful healed results that last are my top priority, but not every skin type accommodates that. The following list disqualifies you from currently receiving permanent makeup. If you have questions about your specific situation please call me directly.

  • Pregnant or breastfeeding

  • Currently using or have been using Accutane within the last 12 months.

  • Have freshly tanned/sunburned face

  • Rosacea

  • Eczema in procedure area

  • Are taking blood thinning medication (may be a candidate for powder brows)

  • Are currently undergoing treatment for cancer

  • Chemotherapy or Radiation treatment within the last 12 months

  • All client must be 18 years of age

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?

Permanent makeup is designed to fade over time, but is still considered a permanent cosmetic tattoo. Factors such as skin type, lifestyle, age, metabolism, medications, and pigment color affect the longevity of your tattoo. Tanning beds and UV rays can also affect the rate at which pigments are broken down.

Depending on the varying factors discussed above, results last anywhere from 1 - 2 years before a client will need to come back for a touch up.

*Final results will vary based on the conditions stated above, and CANNOT be guaranteed. A follow up appointment is needed at 8-12 weeks where we can asses pigment retention and perfect your permanent makeup.

FAQs: Image

what is eyeliner?

Permanent eyeliner is a form of cosmetic tattooing that involves implanting pigment along the lash line with a tattoo machine to create a long-lasting, smudge-proof eyeliner look. It's perfect for saving time, enhancing the eyes, and ensuring a flawless appearance throughout the day without the need for daily application.

Ideal for sensitive eyes or those with sparse lashes, permanent eyeliner can be customized in terms of thickness, color, and shape, allowing you to choose everything from a subtle lash enhancement to a beautiful winged style.

Like brows, eyeliner requires a follow up appointment 8-12 weeks after the initial appointment. Results can last up to 2-3 years before a client will come in for a touch up.

*Please wear NO mascara to your appointment.*

WHAT IS LIP BLUSHING?

Lip blush is a form of permanent makeup where the artist uses a tattoo machine with a needle to implant tiny dots of pigment onto your lips. Very similar to powder brows, pigment is layered until the desired saturation is achieved.

This procedure is great for clients who lack color or  shape to their lips. Lip blush is able to create symmetry, even out lip color, and can make your lips appear fuller and more youthful.

*Lip blush is not a replacement for lip filler.

Initial lip blush results will look quite bright and bold, but heal very soft and retain about 40% of the initial opacity. Like brows, lip blush needs a follow up appointment 8-12 weeks later. Healed results can last 2 - 3 years before a client will come in for a touch up.

WHAT FACTORS WILL AFFECT MY RESULTS?

  • Oily Skin: Increased oil production can cause strokes to blur and fade very quickly, or not stay at all. If you have combination or  oily skin you are a candidate for combination or powder brows, but NOT microblading.

  • Sun Exposure: Increased sun exposure will cause premature fading. I recommend using a very good face sunscreen to all my clients.

  • Excessive Bleeding: Excessive bleeding will greatly affect how much pigment your body will retain. Pinpoint bleeding throughout the procedure is normal, but excessive bleeding causes pigment to fade very quickly and heal ashy. While bleeding is not entirely in our control, it is important that you follow before care instructions to help minimize bleeding. This includes avoiding blood thinning medications and alcohol 24 hours before your procedure.

  • Improper Pre and Post Care: Failure to follow the given pre and post care instructions will greatly diminish your healed results. Please follow all instructions exactly for the best healed results! I can only control what happens inside the shop, so please come prepared and do your part when you leave afterwards for the best healed results!

DOES IT HURT?

Most of my clients report little to no pain throughout their procedure. Some even fall asleep! ;) While pain tolerance varies between clients, a topical Lidocaine numbing agent is applied throughout the procedure to make sure you stay comfortable.

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY APPOINTMENT?

Preparing for your appointment is just as important to ensure good healed results as post care. Failure to follow pre care instructions may result in you being sent home the day of your appointment, so please read the following carefully!

2 WEEKS BEFORE:

  • BOTOX: If you regularly get Botox or Dysport, it must be done at least 2 weeks prior to your appointment. Receiving it within 2 weeks of your appointment will result in being sent home and asked to reschedule.

  • WAXING/THREADING: I recommend coming to your appointment with your brow hair grown out so I can see how they naturally grow. No need to clean them up before, because I will do so at your appointment. If you just got them cleaned up, please allow 2 weeks of growth before your appointment. If you tint your brows, please do so at lease 7 days prior.

  • RETIN-A: Please refrain from using any Retin-A products in the brow area for at least 2 weeks leading up to your appointment.

24 HOURS BEFORE:

  • To minimize bleeding during the procedure, please avoid any alcohol. Blood thinning medications such as Ibuprofen and Advil should also be avoided unless prescribed by a doctor.

  • Map directions and know how long your commute will be. I have a  15 minute late policy. Showing up late will result in being asked to reschedule.

DAY OF YOUR APPOINTMENT:

  • Avoid exercise. Exercising increases blood flow and may cause excessive bleeding, leading to poor healed results.

  • Makeup: You are welcome to come with or without makeup on. We will, however, be taking a lot of photos and video afterwards.

  • The studio can get a little chilly sometimes so feel free to bring a jacket!

  • RELAX! Feeling nervous is normal. We are going to work together to create beautiful brows you love!

I'VE HAD MY BROWS DONE BEFORE BY ANOTHER ARTIST WILL YOU DO THEM?

I require that anyone who has had previous work done elsewhere to send photos of their brows, to taylor.primeaux@aol.com or textwith no makeup on them, in good, natural lighting. (near a window is ideal)

How to take pictures of your brows.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT IMMEDIATELY AFTER MY APPOINTMENT?

Immediately after getting your brows done, you may experience minor redness or swelling around the treated area, which typically goes away within 24 hours. Over the next few hours, the pigment in the skin will oxidize, making the brows look darker and warmer (red) than they were initially. This is normal and expected. Pigment typically fades anywhere from 20-40% once fully healed.

Around day 3-4, you may notice light scabbing and flaking on the treated area. This is normal! Please refrain from picking at the brows. Doing so will result in loss of pigment in those areas and can cause scarring. Brows may appear spotty or patchy until the entire brow has finished healing. Once all the flaking is complete (usually around day 7), the brows will appear much lighter. This is normal! The pigment will darken over the next 4-6 weeks and the pigment will return to the skin in it's healed color.

At 4-6 weeks, your brows will be fully healed. Whatever pigment that does not return will be addressed at your touch up appointment. At this appointment, we will asses your retention, touch up the spots that didn’t stick, and can adjust the pigment color to give you perfect brows! Once the brows have healed from your touch up appointment, you will have beautiful, full brows for 12-36 months!

AFTERCARE

Following the given aftercare is crucial to obtain the best results! All clients are expected to follow the following instructions exactly to get the best healed results!

  • Cleanse morning and night for 7 days with a gentle cleaner with no active ingredients. I recommend Cerave or Cetaphil.

  • Apply a thin layer of aftercare ointment to the brows 2-3x a day for 7 days.

  • No makeup can go on the brows for 7 days. You may wear makeup around the brows, but leave at least one inch around them at all times to prevent infection.

  • Avoid direct sun exposure for 2 weeks. Please plan vacations and outings accordingly to avoid as much sun as possible. Wear a hat.

  • Do not touch, pick, rub, or scratch the brows. Do not pick the scabs or flakes as they come off, this will remove the pigment and lead to patchiness and scarring.

  • Avoiding sweating, saunas, and steam for the next 10-14 days. If they get wet in the shower pat them dry with a dry cloth. No working out until all flaking has finished.

  • No anti-aging or acne products on the brows ever (anything with Retinol, Glycolic Acid, Salicylic Acid, etc.)

DO I NEED A TOUCH UP APPOINTMENT?

Yes! PMU is a two-step process, and a touch up is needed to get the best results. Also known as the “perfecting session”, a touch up is done 8-12 weeks after your initial session, and is where we assess your retention, perfect the shape and color, and add more dimension. Touch ups are very important and add to the overall results and longevity of your PMU. It is strongly encouraged to book your touch up appointment at the same time as you book your initial session, or at checkout after your initial session.

WILL PMU REPLACE MY MAKEUP?

While permanent makeup is amazing for defining the brow and enhancing a client’s features, it’s important to have realistic expectations about what it can and cannot do. Permanent makeup is a cosmetic tattoo, meaning it is going in your skin. Makeup sits on top of your skin. Therefore, some of the things you can achieve with makeup will not look the same or give the same effect as a PMU tattoo. Because the tattoo we are creating is relatively permanent and is going in your skin, it’s very important where we place and shape the brow! Going too far away from where the hair naturally grows will look unnatural and won’t blend with the natural hair that you have.

Because the ink is being implanted under the skin, it’s also important to note that the healed results will always differ from fresh ones as the skin heals over it. Permanent makeup is not magic, and it’s important that we stay close to what your brows are naturally doing to maintain beautiful results.

PMU is low maintenance, not no maintenance!
